RCA 5th Annual Texas Event Dinner & Course Offering

2010 RCA Texas Event

The annual Radio Club of America Texas Event was held the evening of April 27th in conjunction with the 2010 Texas APCO Conference in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Event included a technical training course for the Texas APCO attendees, provide by the Radio Club of America, as well as, the annual Radio Club dinner.
This year’s technical course was titled “An Introduction to Internet Protocol for Radio Personnel”. The course was written and taught by RCA member and director Richard “Rich” Biby. The annual Radio Club technical course was started as a result of the Texas APCO board of directors seeking training for their technical members. The Radio Club has been asked to continue providing a technical course at future Texas APCO Conferences.
The Radio Club of America will work with both the Texas APCO board and membership to design future training programs. These programs will assist the public safety technical members in performing their jobs, as well as, accommodating new technologies.
The annual Texas Event Radio Club dinner was very well attended again this year. The speaker at the annual dinner was H. Don McFarland.  Mr. McFarland is currently a consultant to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Don has more than 35 years of experience in the public safety communications industry. Mr. McFarland has many years experience in developing technical training courses and currently teaches several courses for many agencies and states. Don is a member of the Radio Club of America and an Amateur Radio operator, W5WD.
The annual Radio Club of America Texas Event continues to be very successful in promoting the Radio Club of America, increasing its membership and providing vital technical training to the public safety technical members. The annual event is committed to honoring the past while being very committed to the future of both The Radio Club of America and our industry.
